What are general scholarships? General scholarships refer to scholarships offered through organizations and businesses outside of the school or institution of choice. Below are a variety of scholarships that you may eligible to apply for. This is not an exhaustive list, and you can find more scholarships by searching various scholarship sites. A few of scholarship sites are located under Additional Resources.
Amazon Future Engineer Scholarships : Students interested in computer science, engineering and robotics can apply for a $40,000 scholarship and a paid internship. HERE

Elks National Foundation Legacy Award: Scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members. HERE
Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Contest: Awards 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, and financial need. Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks. When applying choose Grand Rapids Elks Lodge #48 as the sponsoring lodge. HERE
Derrick Law Firm: $1,000 scholarship for those affected by auto accident. HERE
Grand Rapids Community Foundation: Awards hundreds of scholarships annually primarily to Kent County students bound for or in college, or pursuing a technical career. HERE

Gun Lake Tribe: Offering a 20,000 scholarship. Students do not need to be a tribal member to apply. HERE

Heisman High School Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship for students who have participated in at least one sport with a GPA of 3.0 or better HERE

Kent County Education Association: Offering 5 -$500 scholarships for a dependent child of KCEA or Kent County ESP (Educational Support Personnel)Credit Union ONE. Applications can be picked up in the counseling office.
KCEA Scholarship: KCEA will be awarding 6 scholarships this year for dependents of KCEA members. Applications can be picked up in the counseling office.

Michigan Retailers Association: An annual scholarship for students or their parent who work for a company that is a member of Michigan Retailers Association. HERE
Phi Delta Kappa Chapter 1607 Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship(s) for student seeking a career in education. HERE
Portland Federal Credit Union: Awarding 10 - $1,000 scholarships for students going onto college or entering a skills trade program/training. HERE
Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship: A scholarship for a deserving student interested in pursing a college career in engineering, mathematics, or the sciences. HERE
Rosa Parks Scholarship: A $2,000 scholarship awarded to a Michigan high school senior who holds close to Mrs. Parks' ideals while demonstrating academic skills, community involvement and economic need. HERE
